Equal Opportunities Policy
North
Lanarkshire Arts Association (NLAA) committed itself to
the principle of Equal Opportunities when it was founded,
by means of Clause 4.1 in its Constitution, which reads:
"The
Association shall be non-political, non-sectarian and non-denominational
and shall not discriminate on the grounds of religion, gender,
sexual orientation, disability or any other ground, and
all members shall adhere to these principles."
CLARIFICATION OF POLICY·
- This
policy will apply to all activities of NLAA including
programming, marketing and development work.
- NLAA
will adhere to all relevant legislation and will attempt
to keep up to date in this field.
-
In relation to the Disability Discrimination Act (1995),
NLAA will implement "reasonable adjustment"
in service delivery.
- The
policy will apply to all those associated with NLAA,
including member organisations, volunteers and employees
and these will be expected to demonstrate their commitment
in an appropriate manner when relevant. (Adopted
by the Committee of NLAA, 17.04.02)
This policy is being fulfilled in a number of ways, for
example:
For
the Visually Impaired: this website has been developed
with visually impaired users in mind, e.g. all images have
an alternative tag explaining the image. We would appreciate
feedback from such users as to the usability of the site
and suggestions for improvements.
North
Lanarkshire Art Exhibition: rather than have different
sections of the displays in different rooms, one of which
is inaccessible to wheelchair users, NLAA decided that all
rooms should contain displays from all sections. In addition,
there will be "real-time" filming of all exhibition
areas both at the Exhibition and on the web site, for those
who cannot reach the Exhibition at all. It is intended that
all works on display at the exhibition will be photographed
for depiction on this website.
Suggestions
and Comments: will be gratefully received. Contact us
